Trout River Industries recently established an entrance award honouring the company’s former owner, Harvey Stewart. The Harvey Stewart Trout River Industries Award, endowed with a generous $100,000 donation, will support graduating students from Westisle Composite High School as they embark on their post-secondary education journey at Holland ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ.
The award honours the legacy and recognizes the outstanding contribution of its founder, Harvey Stewart, to the establishment, growth, and ongoing success of Trout River Industries, making it one of Canada’s leading trailer manufacturers. Harvey Stewart, now Chief Innovation Officer at Trout River, is a graduate of Holland ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ and was honoured with a Holland ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ Distinguished Alumni Award in 2020.
Holland ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ President, Dr. Alexander (Sandy) MacDonald, expressed thanks to Trout River Industries for recognizing Harvey’s leadership by investing back into his alma mater.
“We are grateful for those in the community who come alongside our students at such a pivotal time in their lives,” said Dr. MacDonald. “The Harvey Stewart Trout River Industries Award will make a significant difference in the educational journeys of our students for years to come. For many students, a scholarship, bursary, or award is the investment they need to make their post-secondary dreams a reality.”
The President of Trout River Industries, Stephen Kennaugh, expressed his enthusiasm and support for the initiative, noting that the company began in western PEI and continues to employ many people from the area.
"We are proud to be honouring Trout River Industries’ 25-year journey of success and the people who have contributed along the way, by investing back into the community”, said Kennaugh. “As the company’s founder, Harvey’s legacy is one of hard work, integrity, and community spirit, this award is our way of honouring his contributions and ensuring his values continue to inspire future generations.”
The first award recipient was announced at Westisle Composite High School’s graduation in June of this year. For more information about this award and others, please visit hollandcollege.com.
