The McCain Foundation, an organization that values community and champions initiatives that create positive changes for all Canadians, has recently pledged $150,000 to the Holland ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ Foundation’s Thrive campaign. The campaign is a $2.5 million fundraising effort supporting the establishment of a centre for student wellness, resilience, and success at Holland ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ.
This donation supports Holland ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ’s vision of creating an inclusive environment where students will have access to integrated resources that include mental health supports, a health clinic, academic support services, and career and academic counselling. Lifelong determinants of health such as sleep, diet, exercise, and social interaction will also be emphasized.
“We know that more is needed when it comes to mental health and wellness on our campuses and in our centres,” said Dr. Alexander (Sandy) MacDonald, President of Holland ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ. “Through their generous support for this important campaign, The McCain Foundation will once again be helping our students build the resilience, capacity and skills they need to lead healthy, empowered, and productive lives.”
“Mental health and wellness is a chief concern of The McCain Foundation and we are pleased to support Holland ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ’s new student centre with the hope that all students will find the supports they need for a successful academic journey”, said Linda McCain, Chair of The McCain Foundation.
“This campaign comes at a time in history when supporting student needs has never been so critical,” said Kent Scales, Holland ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ Foundation Board Chair. “We are tremendously grateful to The McCain Foundation for their leadership and support as we work to unfold an exciting vision.”
