Instructional staff from Holland ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ’s health studies programs are planning an interprofessional collaborative session where their students can learn about each other's roles and training, and to encourage teamwork across the healthcare disciplines.
The three-hour session, which takes place October 25, includes students from the Occupational Therapist Assistant and Physiotherapist Assistant, Practical Nursing, Resident Care Worker, Medical Support Services, Dental Assisting, and Paramedicine programs.
Rachel Batchilder, Program Manager for Health Studies, said the instructors want their students to learn more about each other and their training in a relaxed, fun environment.
“The purpose of this session is to encourage students to have fun while engaging with students from other health programs. It gives them the opportunity to learn more about the roles and responsibilities of other health professions in patient care,” she said.
The instructors hope to make the session an annual event, giving new members of the health care field an understanding and appreciation of the responsibilities and challenges of other health care professionals.
