Holland ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ is introducing a unique online program for all incoming students. The program addresses the challenges many students face, regardless of whether they are fresh out of high school or have been out of school for a while and are returning to continue their education.
The Pre-Arrival program was developed by Tailwind, a student wellness company, to proactively connect students transitioning into post-secondary education with the supports they need to thrive at the college level. The program, which is offered free of charge, provides valuable information to help students prepare for college, including information about the mental health and wellness supports they can access, which will increase their chances of successfully completing their program.
The program augments Holland ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ’s traditional orientation information, said Lornie Hughes, Executive Director Student Support and Registrar.
“Holland ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ strives to provide a supportive student environment in every campus and centre across the province. Giving students the opportunity to explore the pre-arrival program is another way to support them during the transition to college. We encourage incoming students to review the program with their families and their supporters so that everyone is aware of the demands of post-secondary studies and the supports we have in place,” he said.
In addition to providing students with information about the supports and services available to them as Holland ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ students, Tailwind will be able to develop more resources based on the students’ participation.
"We're taking into account any questions, requests, or concerns that students may share within the program, which will allow us to continue tailoring it in ways that specifically address their unique student journey at Holland ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ,” said Devin Golets, founder and CEO of Tailwind. “I commend the staff on campus for their decision to invest in their students before they even arrive for the first time, and once students enter the program, I think they will quickly discover what a special community they are joining."
Incoming and current students and their families can access the Tailwind program and other resources here.
