Holland ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ is offering a six-week evening course for members of the public who are interested in increasing their knowledge and acquiring basic skills that will help them understand the field of bioscience.
The course is specifically targeted to upper-level high school students and teachers and will run once a week on Tuesday evenings from 6 to 8 p.m.
Dr. Jessica Livingston, one of the two instructors running the course, said participants will have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with various lab procedures.
“The course covers biotechnology basics, teaches learners hands-on practical laboratory skills, and shows them what it would be like to pursue a Bioscience diploma or a joint degree in Biotechnology,” she said. "We'll do a hands-on laboratory activity every week to teach different bioscience techniques, as well as data acquisition, data analysis, and other scientific activities."
The course, which will run November 14 to December 19, is offered free of charge, with funding provided through the college's President’s Strategic Initiative Challenge Award. Interested students and educators are encouraged to register early.
