Drum Line live on Canada AM Christmas Eve

The PEI Honours Drum Line, part of the Holland ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ Welshmen Community Band, will perform live on Canada AM from the steps of the Delta Hotel in downtown Charlottetown on Christmas Eve, band director Alan Dowling announced today.

"The drum line was invited as a result of their performances at the third annual Holland ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ Welshmen Community Band and the Colonel Gray High School Christmas concerts. They're very excited about performing for a national audience, and I'm sure that their skills will be appreciated all across the country," he said.

The PEI Honours Drum Line is comprised of three students and a member of staff from the Colonel Gray High School Band. Dowling has been working with the four for the past two months as part of an outreach program for the newly-formed Holland ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ School of Performing Arts, which launches its first two programs in September.

"The high school students in the drum line are great examples of the calibre of students that will be attending the School of Performing Arts," he explained. "They have mastered an instrument, and may be interested in pursuing a career in the field. If so, they will be able to hone their skills and learn about the business side of the music industry in the school's Music Performance program."

The drum line will be live on Canada AM at 9:36 a.m. in Atlantic Canada, 10:06 a.m. in Newfoundland, and 8:36 a.m. in the rest of the country. Family and friends are welcome to stop by and watch the show.
