Team Cormorant is delivering leading-edge aerospace expertise to Holland ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ in Summerside by providing aircraft components, computer based course material, and instructor training. In addition, Team Cormorant will extend financial support for two scholarships.
"Today's announcement demonstrates that Team Cormorant's commitment to Canada reaches into the classroom here at Holland ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ in Prince Edward Island," said Premier Pat Binns. "The generous support Team Cormorant is announcing today will make sure our students get hand-on experience with some of the most advanced helicopter technology in use in the world today."
Under the terms of the agreement with Holland ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ, Team Cormorant is delivering computer based training systems and modern helicopter components to Holland ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ, which allow students to learn about the aviation technology used on the Cormorant Helicopter.
The Government of Canada has selected the Cormorant Helicopter to replace retiring Labrador search and rescue helicopters. The first of Canada's 15 new Cormorants will fly across the Atlantic Ocean early next year to begin active duty at Canadian Forces Bases on the west and east coast of Canada.
"At Team Cormorant, we keep our promises and those commitments including enhancing opportunities for Canadian aerospace. Of course, there is no better place to start than with the talented, young students entering the industry and that's why we are especially proud to contribute in a tangible and financial way to Holland ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ," said Norman Dyer, Team Cormorant Business Director.
The aircraft components and computer based course material provided by Team Cormorant will give students actual examples of what they will work with in the aerospace industry. This will equip students with the very latest technology being used in the production of the Cormorant family of helicopters.
