Electronic Services Librarian

Continuing full-time position commencing May 19, 2025

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for the maintenance and management of the integrated library system (ILS).
  • With the ¼â½ÐÊÓÆµ Librarian, manages and maintains the Learning Object Repository (LOR) of the LMS (SAM).
  • Ensure interoperability of library database with other systems.
  • Collaborate with library staff to ensure web site quality and accessibility.
  • Provide technical expertise in selecting, developing and implementing new information technologies and their library applications.
  • Specify and maintain library hardware and software.
  • Manage and installs various library-specific software packages.
  • Provide effective and easy access to licensed electronic resources to college students, faculty and staff.   
  • Ensure effective user authentication is secure and seamless and maximizes the full potential of vendor/consortia licenses.
  • Plan, implement, and support discovery tools within Library Services.
  • Maintain and update entries in the print and electronic database and link resolver.
  • Analyze logs and create usage statistics reports on library holdings, online databases, users etc.
  • Lead initiatives to maintain and develop the library’s web presence.
  • Respond to basic and specialized reference queries (traditional and virtual) in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Provide circulation services and general library orientation sessions.
  • Develop and provide training and documentation for library staff, including detailed procedures and workflow, on electronic resources and services.
  • Maintain currency in emerging trends and technologies.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Candidates must possess an ALA-accredited Master’s degree in Library/Information Science and have a minimum of two years’ systems related experience, preferably in an academic library.
  • Experience with various functions of integrated library software.
  • Experience in supporting applied and basic undergraduate research with reference and instructional products and services.
  • Experience in querying databases using SQL.
  • Knowledge of and experience with statistical software.
  • Strong ability in HTML, CSS, DBMS, scripting language (PHP, etc), XML.
  • Proficiency working in an electronic environment including integrated library systems, electronic resources and web-based technologies.
  • Must be highly organized, proactive, detail and solutions oriented with the ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other staff, internal/external clients and departments.
  • Project management skills and leadership experience.
