Culture and Inclusion Advisor

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Culture and Inclusion Advisor will lead and have responsibility for developing, coordinating, and implementing a diversity, equity, and inclusion strategy and operational plan.  They will also advise on the harassment, discrimination, and sexual violence protocols at Holland ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ. The successful candidate will inspire and guide the ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ by focusing on creating awareness, delivering programming, and building allyship. Leveraging and fostering relationships with internal and community resources, the Culture and Inclusion Advisor will:

  • Develop and lead an institutional DEI strategy and operational plan, consistent with Holland ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ strategic direction, that has clear objectives and measurable outcomes.
  • Plan, promote and deliver relevant and appropriate intersectional DEI and anti-oppressive educational programming.
  • Collaborate and liaise with internal services and community resources to deliver programs that educate students, faculty, and staff in areas of harassment, discrimination, sexual violence, and human rights.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with underrepresented groups, including Indigenous communities, to ensure their voices and experiences are heard and integrated into institutional planning.
  • Lead and influence change, take proactive measures, and be available for consultation with all members of the college community on issues concerning diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, harassment, discrimination, sexual violence, and human rights.
  • Lead and support investigation protocols and processes to resolve complaints.
  • Act as an impartial advisor to complaints, offering support, and accommodations, in accordance with established college ISO policies and protocols. 
  • Collect data, perform analysis, and present the findings to inform service and future policy and program development.
  • Recommend new policies/processes, and make amendments to existing ones as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post-secondary credential in a related discipline (i.e. human rights and equity, law, human resources, gender studies, social sciences, social work, etc.) or equivalent combination, with a minimum of five years of recent relevant experience required.
  • Experience designing, developing, and implementing policies, procedures, programs, and/or services that promote an equitable and inclusive culture, grounded in human rights.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience in a range of specialized areas such as sexual violence prevention, mental wellness, accessibility, race relations, and gender identity.
  • Experience overseeing the provisions of mediation, conflict resolution and restorative approaches to address and resolve issues of harassment and discrimination.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the impacts of intersectional racism and other forms of institutionalized oppression.
  • Awareness of provincial and federal laws related to equity, harassment, discrimination, sexual violence, etc.
  • Proven ability to handle sensitive information and situations with tact and diplomacy, maintaining the highest confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Effective organizational, report writing, word processing and spreadsheet skills.
  • Experience or training in trauma informed care is considered an asset.
